«We need to make much greater use of social media»

IAMANEH "In Mali, IAMANEH and the Association des Jeunes pour la Citoyenneté Active et la Démocratie (AJCAD) are joining forces to combat female genital cutting (FGC). This collaborative initiative mobilizes young people to challenge this human rights violation through social media campaigns and public events. Adam Dicko, the founder of AJCAD, and gender expert Daouda Ballo strategically use digital communication to raise awareness about sexual and reproductive health. In a conversation with IAMANEH Switzerland, they discuss both the opportunities and challenges associated with this form of knowledge dissemination."

Le festival FEMMES!, en sa 3e édition, s'inscrit dans la campagne du 25 novembre et est soutenu par le Bureau de l'égalité du canton de Genève. Le festival se tiendra du 5 au 13 novembre 2024.

IAMANEH "Son objectif est de sensibiliser le public genevois aux inégalités de genre à travers des projections de films et des discussions. La programmation complète est disponible sur le site de IAMANEH Suisse, ainsi que dans le programme officiel de la campagne du 25 novembre, afin de promouvoir la réflexion et l’engagement citoyen."

Miriam Glass rejoint la codirection

IAMANEH "A partir d'août 2024, Miriam Glass prendra la codirection de IAMANEH Suisse avec Alexandra Nicola, qui fait déjà partie de l'équipe de direction depuis 2020. Elle succède à Manuela Di Marco, qui partira à la retraite fin juillet. Miriam Glass travaille depuis août 2023 comme responsable de la collecte de fonds publics chez IAMANEH Suisse. Elle apporte plusieurs années d'expérience dans la communication pour des organisations à but non lucratif. Auparavant, elle a travaillé comme journaliste dans différentes rédactions de la presse quotidienne et hebdomadaire."

Interview: Co-Managing Director Manuela Di Marco looks back on 22 years at IAMANEH Switzerland on the occasion of her retirement.

IAMANEH "Manuela Di Marco worked in fundraising at IAMANEH Switzerland for 22 years. She has been Co-Managing Director together with Alexandra Nicola since 2020. Manuela Di Marco is now retiring. Miriam Glass will take over her position as the Co-Managing Director of IAMANEH Switzerland from August. In this interview, Manuela Di Marco looks back and recalls special encounters, challenges and successes."

Against violence in the digital space

Ejnxh Pepa from Albania reports in an interview on how our partner organisation CLWG is taking action against violence in the digital space.

IAMANEH Suisse "Violence against women extends into the digital realm, a reality we confront daily. Reports of women and girls enduring online sexual harassment, threats, involuntary sharing of personal content, or cyberstalking have become commonplace. In response, our Albanian partner organization, the 'Counselling Line for Women and Girls' (CLWG), offers counselling for women and girls who experience violence in the digital space. Ejnxh Pepa coordinates the project on digital violence at CLWG and also ensures the interface with IAMANEH Switzerland. In April 2024, Ejnxh Pepa presented the CLWG's work in the area of digital violence at a Medicus Mundi conference in Switzerland and provided information about her work on this occasion."

“Decolonization” in the world of development cooperation is often equated with the goal of building equitable partnerships between organizations in the North and their “local partners” in the South. But how equitable can we be, if our development NGOs in the North are considered international, while the NGOs we are funding in the South are considered local, no matter how many organizations from different donor nations they are reporting to? IAMANEH Switzerland has long been aware of the challenge of equitable partnerships in an unequal world. However, it takes courage to understand these inequalities as part of the (neo) colonial structure we are all still implicated in. Here is how our journey began.

KAMPAGNE: 16 TAGE GEGEN GEWALT AN FRAUEN

IAMANEH Das Filmfestival frauenstark! findet vom 25. bis 30. November 2020 während der 16-Tage-Kampagne gegen Gewalt an Frauen im kult.kino Basel statt. Startschuss ist am 25. November. Gezeigt werden sechs Filme rund um das Fokusthema «Gegen Gewalt an Frauen». Nach der erfolgreichen vierten Austragung verkündet IAMANEH Schweiz stolz die Fortsetzung des frauenstark! Filmfestivals. Die internationale Kampagne «16 Tage gegen Gewalt an Frauen» vom 25. November bis 10. Dezember bildet den ideellen Rahmen des Festivals. Wir zeigen den ersten Film, «Papicha», am Mittwoch, 25. November. Der letzte Film geht am Montag, 30. November über die Leinwand.
