The 2019 symposium held by the Medicus Mundi Switzerland network focused on the underlying causes of inequities and injustices in the health status of population groups. Inequality of opportunity and injustice make people sick: whether it is in Switzerland or on the European level, in India or Chad. Using a wide variety of examples, the experts demonstrated that if we want to achieve “Health for All” by 2030, we have to break through the social and structural barriers to equal opportunities. The MMS symposium drew new lessons and insights and showed what needs to be done so that access to health for all worldwide can be realised as quickly as possible.
