Medicus Mundi Switzerland In an era where digital innovation reshapes nearly every facet of our lives, the health sector finds itself at the intersection of unprecedented opportunity and significant challenge. Artificial intelligence (AI) and in particular social media have transformed the ways we access information, deliver services, and engage with communities on critical issues like sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
AI-powered tools offer promising solutions for personalized healthcare, predictive analytics, and real-time public health monitoring. Similarly, social media platforms have become essential in raising awareness, breaking stigmas, and fostering global dialogue on sensitive topics. Yet, as these technologies expand their influence, they also raise questions about privacy, equity, and ethical boundaries and can enhance stigma, discrimination and increase mental health issues.
This conference seeks to explore how these digital innovations can be harnessed to advance health advocacy while addressing the challenges they pose. From combating misinformation on social media to ensuring that AI algorithms are inclusive and unbiased, our discussions will focus on developing actionable strategies that balance innovation with accountability.
Looking ahead, the next five years will be pivotal in determining the role of technology in shaping SRHR outcomes and broader health systems. The opportunities are immense: the potential to use AI for predictive analytics e.g. in preventing maternal mortality, employing social media for real-time health advocacy, and fostering international cooperation on pressing health challenges. However, we must also address looming threats, such as cyberbullying, digital surveillance, and misinformation, which can undermine progress.
The MMS Conference 2025 will serve as a pivotal space to discuss these dynamic issues and envision where we stand in the next years.
Target audience: national and international Public Health professionals, project leaders, researchers and all those who are interested.
